A commemorative plaque and garden dedicated to United States. Senator Paul and Shelia Welstone. The senator was a UNC Alumnus.

The original of these collection of statues had at least three more figures representing African American students. Hundreds of protesters demanded their removal because they were deemed stereotypical. They were removed from the original site on a larger platform at the entrance of Davis Library to a small park near Bynum, Murphy and Hamilton halls less the offending statues.
