An early & 2nd Birthday dinner at Zweli’s Akhaya in Durham

This was my first visit to the new home for Zweli’s and its rebranding as Zweli’s Akhaya on Blackwell Street in downtown Durham. The new restaurant is a lovely, welcoming and elegantly designed place. The food is a perfect complement— exquisite, adventurous, and delicious.

The bar is fully stocked with a variety of unique African wines and a fine selection of cocktails and mock tails.

These ceiling lamps are intriguing objects.

Roasted red and golden beets, peach chutney, crunchy pistachio crumble and whipped goat cheese.

The splendid spicy roasted game hen with roasted vegetables and sauce.

The restaurant is on the lower level of the American Tobacco Plaza with very nice views like the one below of the antique art work of a neighboring barbershop.
