Loaf and Dulce Cafe and the Baker’s Craft

My Discovery of the pastries and bread from Loaf was at the Saturday morning Farmers Market at University Place. They had one of the busier stalls so I rambled over. The pastries were still aromatic from their early morning baking. I’ve been hooked since. On my first staycation in Durham I realized they were just around the corner from the C21 Hotel and Museum. I make a monthly visit to the source now.

La Dulce’s entrance and patio—a panoramic view

La Dulce has spacious cafe with a full menu and coffee bar. In our mild climate, patrons eating on the patio is a must. To date I’ve just gone there for their exquisite dessert creations. At some point I’ll wed to try lunch.

La Dulce’s coconut macaroon is impossibly light and crinkly and come in both vanilla and chocolate. The French term frisée more aptly describes their texture and taste.
