Local 22 and memories of dining at Giorgio Bakatsia’s George’s Garage.

This is what my friend Scott and I had for lunch today. This is a very lovely and gratifying photo of our lunch, Local 22 restaurants, charcuterie board. I’ve been going to one or another Bakatsias restaurant for the 40 years I have lived at Chapel Hill and and each one has been a delight. But since several of my recent posts has been about going to places that are part of the dining scene in Chapel Hill, has been on my mind a lot lately and I do have one very favorite particular Bakatsia restaurant. It was wonderful place on Hillsborough at 9th Street in Durham called George’s’ Garage. Amazingly Bakatsia’s Juju is located now in the same spot. I only visited it several times a year because I wanted to have at least for friends visitors and of course myself. The only other place I treated this way was the Italian restaurant restaurant Aurora in Carrboro). My favorite dish at George’s was their duck comfit which I first tried there. I can almost still taste the dish.
